Museum Salt & Bog

Two museums at one site: The historical buildings of "Klaushäusl" ("house at the narrows") once serviced a pumping station at the brine pipeline from Reichenhall in the Bavarian Alps to Rosenheim, a town at the foothills of the Alps. Nowadays, the Salt museums shows the technical history of the Bavarian brine pipelines, the first modern pipelines worldwide. The Bog museum in contrast delivers insight into life of peat bogs. Every year, a new exhibition on regional topics complements the two museums. We emphasise that all parts of the exhibitions suit children. Two short hikes are worth families' while, too: Just a few steps away from Klaushäusl you will find the nature reserve Kendlmühlfilzen and its activity trail along which children and families can discover the bog on their own. Visitors are also invited to enjoy an exciting hike to the waterfall. Finish off your visit in the cosy museum café or enjoy some cake and coffee before visiting the exhibitions.
