Shores of lake Chiemsee

Cycling

The best way to get to know the Chiemgau area is by bike. No other mode of transport gives you the chance to observe the countryside and the people better. Numerous signposted cycle paths lead you to the most beautiful sites in the Grassau area. Almost all the neighbouring towns are easily accessible on well laid out cycle paths.
If you want to set off on your own, you can get a cycle map from the tourist information office and our cycle paths are all well signposted. If you are overcome by the need to get on your bike when you are here in beautiful Chiemgau: Simply rent a bike.
...or would you rather see the tours first in a film?

Cycle around Chiemsee

You can get to know the Bavarian sea literally from all sides in one day. Cosy restaurants and idyllic beaches entice you to stay a while or to go for a dip. Or follow the Tiroler Ache river! The largest Chiemsee tributary meanders into the mountains in the south. The cycle path takes you partly along the dam, partly along side streets past neighbouring towns until you are almost at the Austrian border. Enjoy the tranquil countryside and the splendid view of our mountains.

Discover the mountains on the mountain bike

If you set your sights a little higher, you are in the right place in Grassau: The Chiemgau Alps are a paradise for mountain bikers. Challenging ascents then traditional fare at the hut, shady forest paths, rapid descents, cool your feet in the mountain stream. And all that with the magnificent backdrop of the Chiemgau mountains. Whether you want to bike up the Kampenwand or roll gently from hut to hut – easy or difficult it’s all here. Diversity is guaranteed, because almost all of the numerous huts are accessible via the forest paths. Have fun exploring the beautiful mountains!

Several long distance cycle paths lead through Grassau:

  • Königsee-Bodensee cycle path
  • Salinen cycle path
  • Achental cycle path

We have a relaxation room on the first floor of the tourist information office for tired cyclists, who want to charge up their own batteries and those for their e-bikes and mobiles.
